Dear Reader and family, Can you believe we’re already in the 4th week of March? This week, your child is working on an important lesson: Patience and Control — “Do Not Be Overly Ambitious.” At first, that may sound unusual. Most kids want to go faster, do more, and move ahead quickly. But here’s the truth: The students who rush… struggle. As your child’s athletic ability improves—stronger kicks, faster movement, and more advanced techniques—it becomes even more important that they develop control, discipline, and responsibility. That’s what we are teaching right now before they reach Black Belt. Because a Black Belt is not just skill—it’s self-control under pressure. This week’s worksheet and coloring page reinforce that message in a way your child can understand:
What your child is learning right now goes far beyond karate. Patience and control help them do better in school by slowing down, following directions, and avoiding careless mistakes. It also helps them manage frustration, stay focused, and keep going when something is challenging. When students don’t learn this, they get frustrated and want to quit. As we move into tournament season, Black Belt Testing, and other upcoming world, regional and studio events, these lessons become even more important. The students who apply patience and control now will stand out in every area of their training. This is where your support matters most. You can help by reinforcing this at home:

We are developing people who can stay disciplined, control themselves, and handle challenges with confidence. That’s what a true Black Belt represents.
