Big Opportunities Ahead: Team Unity, Tournaments & February Events

Hello Reader and family,

Exciting things are happening at Starworld, and February is shaping up to be a powerful month for growth, confidence, and opportunity.

Team Unity Is Starting Up

Team Unity is officially starting again, and this is a great opportunity for students who enjoy working as part of a team and want to take their training to the next level.

Team Unity focuses on:

  • Synchronized Forms
  • Tag-Team Sparring
  • Teams of three students who train and compete together

Students learn teamwork, communication, accountability, and confidence while building strong martial arts skills in a fun, structured environment.

This year's Team Tournament Opportunities for 2026:

  • Demo Team has three tournament opportunities
  • Team Unity has two tournament opportunities
    • April Friendship Tournament (San Diego): individual competition, plus an opportunity for Demo Teams to perform for School Pride with other Demo Teams performing. Team Unity (Synchronized forms and Tag-Team Sparring) competitions are available at the Friendship Tournament
    • July World Tang Soo Do Tournament is an individual and Demo Team tournament (no Synchronized or Tag-Team events at this tournament)
    • October Region 2 Championships, this is our Region's Tournament, both Team events and Individual competitions

Our Demo Team is already set and passionately training on Saturday mornings. Now it’s time to form and start Team Unity.

Cost: $15 per week ($60 per month)

Why Quality Training Matters

Recently, many of our Black Belts attended the Technical Advancement Clinic (TAC) and Judging Certification Training. These experiences go beyond learning new techniques. They develop a deeper understanding, sharper attention to detail, and the ability to think and teach like experienced Black Belt instructors.

Judging training is especially important. Fairness and integrity matter, particularly when judges may be evaluating their own child or a significant other. Strong tournaments rely on well-trained, ethical judges who understand standards and consistency. We are proud of our Black Belt and all students who continue to protect fair play and the quality of competition by earning their certification.

First Two Tournaments of the Year

Our first tournament of the year will be held in San Diego, California, on April 18. Friendship Tournament Registration will open later this month.

The July World Tang Soo Do Championship registration is open! Please click HERE for information and registration.

Tournaments are not just about trophies; they are a measuring tool. They help students set goals, build confidence, and see how far they’ve come. We encourage participation at all individual levels and for the teams to compete when offered.

Valentine’s Sale – This Week Only

This week’s Valentine Sale is a smart opportunity for families to:

  • Lock in savings
  • Stay consistent with training
  • Plan ahead for their child’s long-term progress

Consistency builds confidence, and smart planning supports success.

Parents’ Night Out – Valentine’s Day

Parents’ Night Out is happening on Valentine’s Day!
Your kids will enjoy a fun, safe, high-energy evening—while you enjoy a well-deserved night out with your significant other.

Hello Reader and family, Welcome to February! It’s hard to believe how quickly the year is moving, but we’re excited about what this month has in store for our students and families. February at Starworld is focused on Confidence—the kind that’s earned through preparation, consistency, and effort. Not the loud kind, and not the instant kind, but the kind that’s built over time by showing up, practicing with purpose, and learning how to handle challenges the right way. That’s the confidence...

Dear Reader and family, I want to take a moment to share two fundraisers we currently have underway, as well as a volunteer opportunity with our nonprofit. These efforts reflect what we try to teach our students every day—giving back, helping others, and doing the right thing when we’re able. Please know there’s no pressure to do everything. Any level of support, time, donations, or simply spreading the word is appreciated. 🌍 Fundraiser #1: Helping a Student from Africa Compete in the U.S. We...

Dear Reader and family, On Saturday, January 24, from 12:45–2:15 PM, we are offering a FREE Community Self-Defense Workshop, and I want to personally invite you, or someone you care about, to attend. This workshop is designed especially for women and teen girls who want to feel more confident, prepared, and aware in everyday situations, without intimidation, pressure, or prior martial arts experience. Many people don’t realize it, but confidence often comes from simply knowing what to do....
